Analytics cookies and recordings

We use Google Analytics 4 (Google) and Microsoft Clarity on every public page of LocalLocal. Both set cookies in your browser. Google Analytics uses _ga and _ga_ZYJY5WFTJ5. Clarity uses _clck and _clsk.

These tools record how you use the site: the pages you view, what you click, how far you scroll, where you move the pointer, the searches you run, your device, browser and approximate location. Microsoft Clarity records sessions so we can replay a visit. Text you type into the listing request form is masked in those recordings.

We use this to find broken pages, understand which searches and listings people use, and see which sources send visitors to the site. Google and Microsoft process this data under their own privacy policies.

Where a visit came from

When you arrive, we save the source of your first visit and your most recent new visit in your browser (campaign tags such as utm_source, advertising click identifiers, the site that referred you and the page you landed on). When you send a listing request, we store this source record with the request.

Listing requests

A correction or removal request stores your email address, your message, your consent and the visit-source record described above. We keep it in our database so a person can review the request. We use your email address only to deal with that request. No email is sent when you submit the form. To ask about a request, send a new request from the business profile and include the reference shown after you submit.

Hosting

Our hosting and database providers may keep standard server logs, such as IP address, browser and the pages requested, for security and reliability.

Analytics control

Turn analytics off to stop Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity loading, stop events being sent and clear their cookies and your saved visit source. We remember your choice in a cookie on this browser. Clearing your cookies resets the choice.
